24 december is a very significant day for me. there were a few events that took place on this day. let me recount.......
1. my baptism, 11 years ago
2. the birth of my daughter, 11 years ago
3. birth of this blog
i was to be baptized on 24 dec 1997 after going through a year long RCIA class. excited with anticipation for the big day in the evening, i found myself spoting and in early stage of labour. thinking that the baby would not arrive so soon, i still envisualize myself in the white maternal dress, being baptized by the priest.
upon arriving at the hospital and after a check by my gynae, my cervix was already dilated 7 cm (fully dilated at 11 cm). this means that birth will follow pretty soon. i thought i could still rush to church for the baptism after the childbirth (how naive of me). my baby was born within the next 6 hours at 2 pm.
unfortunately for me, i had a difficult birthing process, my uterus couldn't contract and i was losing blood. thank god for the prayers of my church friends and my gynae, i was saved but weak. and of course i didn't make it back for the baptism.
on this day, year 2008, my blog was born. hoping to capture my thoughts, my emotions and the daily events that i am encountering, no matter how big or small.
i have been busy since morning on 24 december, trying to bake a birthday cake for my daughter. thought it would be meaning full to bake my first cake for my daughter too. this is also my first major "project" and i am nervous about how the cake will turn out. as a novice baker, i have been relying on recipe books to churn out cakes and cookies.
just pray for me that the cake will turn out nice.
